Kriega vs Mosko Moto: adventure luggage tested on the ACT Pyrenees

Part 3 of our four-part equipment review from the 2026 ACT Pyrenees. For the full story of the trip, read ACT Pyrenees 2026 – five bikes, seven days and one unfinished adventure.

Four of us used Kriega luggage, while Dave used a Mosko Moto system.

Kriega OS-Base: faultless once set up

Lee used the Kriega OS-Base rackless system on his Husqvarna 701. Once loaded each morning, it stayed secure all day. He didn’t need to adjust or tighten anything throughout the entire trip—it was completely trouble-free.

Kriega US-40 Rackpacks: flexible, but watch the straps

Joe, James and Andy each used a Kriega US-40 Rackpack with an additional OS bag attached. The modular flexibility was excellent, especially because we were swapping between three demonstrator motorcycles, but we did need to keep an eye on the straps.

As soft bags move and change shape during a long day, the straps can lose tension. If you don’t catch that quickly enough, they can rub—and we wore through several. Fortunately, we carried spares.

However, there’s some important context.

The first time we fitted the US-40s to the demonstrators was when the bikes came out of the van in Pau. We didn’t have the opportunity to spend time at home perfecting the position, strap routing and tension on each motorcycle.

Lee’s OS-Base was a dedicated setup that had already been properly configured for his Husqvarna—and it was the one Kriega system that gave us no problems whatsoever.

Mosko Moto: the slickest, at a price

Dave’s Mosko Moto setup was easily the most expensive—and we mean really expensive.

Its standout feature was undoubtedly the holster system. The base remained attached to the bike, while the bags simply slid out when we reached each hotel. It was probably the quickest and most convenient system to use every day.

However, bolts in the mounting system also worked loose, which could have become a major problem. One wasn’t a standard fixing we could replace from the spares we were carrying.

We could probably have cobbled together a temporary solution, but that isn’t something you want to be doing in a remote part of the Pyrenees.

Our honest conclusion

The Mosko system offered the slickest everyday bag removal, but at a very high price—and it wasn’t immune from problems.

The Kriega OS-Base was faultless when properly configured for one bike. The US-40 combinations offered excellent modular flexibility and were much easier to move between our demonstrators, but our rushed initial installation meant they needed more attention on the trail.

Whichever system you choose, take the time to fit and test it properly before travelling. Load the bags, ride the bike, check the strap routing and then check everything again.

And always carry spare straps and fixings.

That preparation is every bit as important as the badge on the bag.
